Fairway Market is a locally owned and operated grocery chain with 9 stores serving Vancouver Island for over 60 years.  We are seeking focused, dynamic, and proactive grocery clerks with innovative ideas to join our team.

Grocery Clerks – 3 Positions

Salary $18.25 per hour , 30 to 40 hours per week,  6 to 8 hours per day , 5 days a week , flexible shift schedule , 2 days flexible days off .

Work schedules are expected to be shift 6 up to 8 hours , depending on the business operation, these shifts will continuously vary from morning, day ,afternoon, evening , night , weekend with flexible hours

 Grocery Clerks are expected to maintain and operate the grocery department according to company standards, work with management to provide exceptional customer service, ensure a clean and safe store environment, and perform other duties as assigned.

 Requirements & Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  – Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, storing, restocking, pricing, and displaying products.

   – Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
   – Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
   – Observe all company policies, shift schedules, and government health and safety regulations.
   – Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service.
   – Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and listening skills.
   – Proficiency with PC applications (Google Suite/Email).
   – Ability to work evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
   – Previous retail grocery or relevant department experience is welcomed; we will train the finer details.

  – All clerks will support other departments to ensure team success. 

Job Specifics & Physical Demands:

   – Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and twisting.
   – Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs and push/pull up to 200 lbs.
   – Repetitive actions including stocking, product rotation, cleaning display areas, and unloading deliveries.
