Description

We are looking for an experienced Convention and Special Events Planner for Apex Kosher Catering located at 100 Elder St, North York, ON M3H 5G7, Canada.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Meet with clients, community groups, sponsors, and organizing committees to determine event objectives, service needs, budgets, and operational requirements.

  • Plan and coordinate logistics for conventions, corporate functions, community programs, and large-scale special events, ensuring all catering and service elements align with kosher standards.

  • Coordinate with suppliers – décor, AV equipment, signage, rentals, and transportation to support seamless event execution.

  • Manage guest registration, RSVPs, seating plans, dietary requirements, and on-site attendee flow.

  • Prepare customized proposals, event programs, menus, service agreements, and timelines in alignment with Apex’s standards.

  • Source and negotiate with venues, rental companies, entertainment providers, and other event suppliers to secure needed resources.

  • Oversee event budgeting: track expenditures, approve vendor invoices, and prepare final billing and reconciliation reports.

  • Recruit, schedule, and supervise event staff, service teams, and temporary workers to ensure high-quality kosher event operations.

  • Conduct venue inspections and coordinate with facility managers to ensure readiness, safety compliance, and kosher-service requirements.

  • Lead on-site event coordination, supervising setup, catering operations, vendor activities, and real-time problem-solving.

  • Plan social and program components such as receptions, entertainment, VIP services, and formal dining elements.

  • Complete post-event evaluations, prepare client reports, and recommend improvements to enhance Apex’s event delivery.


 

Prerequisites:

Education: Bachelor’s in Hospitality & Tourism Management or equivalent

Experience & Skills: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in Hospitality Industry

Language: English

 

Hourly Rate: $36 to $38 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week

 

Starting Date: As soon as possible

 

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent

 

Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay,
