Our mission is to support Aboriginal mothers and Aboriginal children by providing a nurturing environment and services that honour and respect their Aboriginal traditions and values. The Centre is dedicated to fostering resilience, promoting well-being and celebrating the strength and wisdom of their cultures. The AMCS Transformational Housing department provides shelter, resources, support, and programs for Indigenous mothers and their children who are at risk, to help bring them together spiritually, physically, and emotionally. The Community Engagement department provides support with general homeless prevention in our immediate community of Vancouver and Burnaby to assist with hardships people may have surrounding housing. Our AMCS 25-children Daycare provides a Aboriginal Head Start program for Indigenous children aged 3 to 5 years old.

Job Summary

AMCS is seeking an Indigenous youth, who is friendly, enthusiastic, and willing to learn a new role as Front Desk/Admin Support that contributes to the mission and philosophy of the AMCS. Assist with day-to-day operation including providing support that meets the needs of families entering the centre, greeting visitors, answering and directing telephone calls, and providing administrative support to all departments.

Job Duties

-Greet and welcome all visitors, residents, and elders

-Answering all phone calls and email inquiries

-Process letters, memorandums, reports, papers, and workshop materials as requested

-Assist with ordering/maintaining office supplies

-Maintain an orderly, confidential filing system

-Assisting other employees with organizing community events Qualifications

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities

-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

-Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

-Ability to deal with individuals in a manner that shows cultural sensitivity, tact and professionalism and demonstrates personal and professional boundaries

-Commit to ongoing learning and professional development

Terms

This is a part-time, Youth Internship position (ages 18-30), in a housing-related role. This internship will end on December 31, 2025, with the possibility of being extended as regular part-time employee.
