Ethnic Food Cook – Tandoor

Description

We are looking for a well-experienced Ethnic Food Cook – Tandoor to work for Sula Indian Restaurant Commercial Drive, 1128 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC, V5L 3X2, Canada.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and cook traditional Indian tandoori items such as kebabs, tikka, and roasted vegetables using authentic techniques.

• Prepare doughs and bake tandoori breads including naan, roti, kulcha, and paratha to match live order demand.

• Operate and manage the tandoor oven, including firing, heat control, and continuous cooking during high-volume service.

• Marinate meats and vegetables using yogurt-based and spice-forward Indian marinades to ensure flavour consistency.

• Manage multiple cook cycles by controlling skewer loads, rotation timing, and oven zones for accurate doneness.

• Coordinate timing with curry and rice stations to ensure synchronized plating and service flow.

• Adjust cooking methods and seasoning to accommodate spice preferences, vegetarian preparation, and special requests.

• Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards, including temperature control, allergen awareness, and sanitation.

• Monitor ingredient usage and portions for high-cost tandoor items and report shortages promptly.

• Train and guide kitchen helpers on tandoor techniques, equipment safety, and quality standards.

Prerequisites:

Education: Secondary (school) graduation certificate or equivalent.

Experience & Skills: 5 years or more in the Food Industry or equivalent.

Language: English

Hourly Rate: $36.60 to $38.00 for 30 to 40 Hours per week

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent
