Epiphany Children’s Centre is currently looking for an enhanced staff (inclusion worker) to work with children requiring additional support. The enhanced staff will work towards the overall development of the child by adapting the program to meet the need of the child. The staff will serve as the liaison between children and families as well as professionals involved with the child’s care, by sharing and communicating information on the developmental goals set for the child. Duties and Responsibilities – Monitor and implement the individual Program Plan, meeting goals and making sure adaptations are made and implemented into the daily program and routines to meet the goals. – Knowledge of developmental milestones, to ensure appropriate planning and adaptation of the program for the child to be able to fully participate. – Making consistent observations and modifying the program as needed for the chid to be able to participate. – Ensuring the child is included in all aspects of the program and routines of the day

Description

  • Monitor and implement the individual Program Plan, meeting goals and making sure adaptations are made and implemented into the daily program and routines to meet the goals.
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones, to ensure appropriate planning and adaptation of the program for the child to be able to fully participate.
  • Making consistent observations and modifying the program as needed for the chid to be able to participate.
  • Communication with experts involved with the child to help in developmental progress.
  • Maintaining a high level of confidentiality, ethical and professional behaviour.
  • Keeping all staff informed on developmental progress of the children so all staff can work together as a team.
  • Aware of use of specialised equipment – wheel chair, iPad communicator, communicating with child using cochlear implants.
  • Be able to use different learning styles- audio, visual, kinesthetic, throughout the program, to ensure the child can fully participate.
  • Being a good role model in inclusive practices.

Requirements

  • Current First Aid/CPR
  • Criminal record and Child Abuse Registry clearance.
  • Minimum three years experience in gastrostomy feeding (G-Tube) of children between the ages of 2 – 6yrs.
  • Experience working with children using cochlear implants
  • Experience working with children using iPad communicator.
  • Completion of 40 hr course as required by ELCC.
  • Ability to communicate with children and parents of various social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to record developmental progress and submitting to parents and experts.
  • Ability to lift minimum 30lbs
  • Being able to bend, stand for long periods of time.
