Job Duties:

• Welcome and greet customers as they enter the gas station, convenience store, deli restaurant, laundromat, and liquor store, and provide customer service

• Determine the prices of goods and services, including gas, diesel, propane, convenience-store merchandise, groceries, deli items, hot food, lottery tickets, and liquor products; scan items; tabulate the total payment required; and calculate the total payment using electronic cash registers, optical price scanners, or other equipment.

• Receive and process payments by cash, cheque, credit card, or debit card for purchases made at the gas station, convenience store, deli restaurant, laundromat, and liquor store.

• Provide customers with information about products, services, store policies, lottery tickets, propane services, and other available items, and promote products through suggestive selling when appropriate.

• Verify the age of customers when selling age-restricted items such as lottery tickets and liquor in compliance with legal requirements.

• Take customer orders for hot food items, including spring rolls and pizza, and prepare, heat, and finish simple food items by portioning, heating, assembling, wrapping, packaging, and serving food accurately and efficiently.

• Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foodstuffs as required for food preparation.

• Maintain records of food quantities used and assist in monitoring inventory levels for food and convenience-store products.

• Bag, wrap, and package merchandise and food items to ensure safe and convenient handling by customers.

• Reconcile cash, fuel, retail, and food sales transactions at the end of each shift, calculate daily or shift payments received, and balance receipts against total sales records.

• Stock shelves, replenish merchandise displays, stock refrigerators and salad bars, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the checkout, food service, and customer areas.

• Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.

              • May perform other related duties as required by the business.
