Rice and Noodle – Robson is seeking F/T Head Chefs.

Position Info:

• Position: Head Chef
• Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent
• Wage: $38.50~$40.00/hour (depending on experience)
• Working Hours: 30-40 hours/week
• Number of Positions: 2
• Work Location: 1236 Robson Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 1C1

Job Duties:

• Oversee cooks and kitchen staff throughout lunch and dinner service
• Guide staff through the preparation, cooking and plating of curries, laksa and noodle dishes
• Train kitchen staff on wok technique, spice-level adjustment and proper food handling
• Introduce new cooking methods and equipment to the kitchen team
• Build menus around Southeast Asian noodle, curry and rice dishes that meet quality and presentation standards
• Develop original recipes to expand the restaurant's noodle and curry offerings
• Adjust dish preparation for customers with food allergies or intolerances
• Source ingredients and kitchen supplies needed for daily operations
• Coordinate equipment purchases and repairs with vendors and suppliers
• Track food costs, inventory, consumption, sales trends and labour expense projections

Job requirements:

• Language: English
• Education: Completion of Secondary School is required
• Experience: a minimum of five years of commercial cooking experience is required
