Skills Requirements:
· Education: Completion of Secondary/High School Graduation Certificate
· Work experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience as a telecommunications line and cable installer/repairer or splicer is required.
Job Duties:
· Operate computerized fibre optic testing equipment and diagnostic systems to perform service tests on customer lines and equipment.
· Analyze test results to identify the nature, cause, and location of faults or service issues affecting fibre optic cables, network circuits, and transmission systems.
· Coordinate with field technicians, fibre splicers, and construction crews by dispatching or notifying the appropriate personnel to investigate and resolve identified network deficiencies.
· Prepare and maintain accurate testing reports, service documentation, network records, and quality assurance logs to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
· Assist field personnel in testing newly installed and existing fibre optic cables, verifying splicing quality, isolating cable faults, confirming circuit performance, and validating network records following construction, maintenance, or repair activities.
· Install, remove, maintain, and repair aerial and underground fibre optic cables, communication lines, and associated telecommunications infrastructure.
· Connecting and repairing various types and sizes of communication fibre optic cables and related telecommunications hardware in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
· Repair or replace faulty fibre optic cables, power supplies signal boosters, and other equipment related to communication.
· Inspect, monitor, test, and troubleshoot fibre optic transmission lines, cables, and distribution systems to locate faults and verify network performance.
· May perform other duties as required by the business.
