INDIGENOUS CAPACITY BUILDING: CONSULTANT

 

Kāhui Tautoko Consulting (Canada) Ltd (KTCL) is an Indigenous consulting company located on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm(Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations and peoples. KTCL was established in the year 2000 in Aotearoa (New Zealand) and established its subsidiary office in Vancouver, Canada in 2008 specializing in Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) community development.

 

This involves working alongside Indigenous communities and with federal and provincial government agencies in the province of British Columbia and at times across Canada – who either fund and/or deliver services or programs to Indigenous peoples, primarily in the health sector and in the area of social determinants of health development. KTCL has been fortunate to work with more than 300 Indigenous communities in Canada through a wide range of capacity building projects. KTCL has a full-time permanent vacancy with an immediate start for a Senior Consultant.

 

The successful applicant will ideally possess a project management qualification OR have demonstrable experience in managing projects and maintaining exceptional relationships with Indigenous peoples. It is essential that applicants have experience working with indigenous peoples, organisations and communities.

 

The role is to secure and manage assigned Indigenous capacity building projects under the guidance of the Director.  The successful applicant will have excellent communication, analysis, writing, facilitation, and organizational skills. Required qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s or Degree in health-related, indigenous-related or social sciences
  • Project Management qualification or demonstrated project management experience of at least 5 years
  • Proven experience working alongside and engaging with Indigenous Communities in KTCL’s coverage are – is essential. This could be from Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia, US, Canada and the Pacific
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience and knowledge of Indigenous history, Trust and Reconciliation programmes, practices of the relevant indigenous culture(s), indigenous world views, indigenous models of care and best practices
  • Minimum 3 years’ of recent related experience in the Indigenous health sector
  • Excellent English written, oral communications
  • Strong facilitation skills for groups, meetings and engagements
  • Evidence of established relationships with Indigenous peoples (support letters may be provided)
  • Lived experience as an Indigenous person is an asset
  • Te Reo Māori language speaker is an asset

Pay

  • Pay Range – $80,000 – $100,000
  • Annual review based on performance against Job Requirements and Competencies
  • 4 weeks’ vacation

  • Minimum 37 hours per week
