Log Barn 1912 Enterprises Corp. is a 40-acre agricultural farm-based business, food-processing and retail operation, and tourist destination located on Highway 97A in Armstrong, British Columbia. Its operations include farm and livestock activities, greenhouse production, private-label food products, a country store, visitor attractions, warehousing and cold storage, and seasonal retail kiosks in Western Canada. The company is seeking an experienced Vice President to provide executive leadership across these integrated operations. The details are as follows:

Main duties
- Establish the company’s mission, strategic direction, corporate objectives, and operating priorities, and formulate or approve policies and programs for the company’s agricultural, livestock, food-processing, retail, tourism, and supporting operations.
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the overall operations of the company, including administration, farm and livestock operations, greenhouse production, food processing, the country store, visitor attractions, warehousing and cold storage, and seasonal kiosk activities.
- Translate the Director’s and Board of Directors’ priorities into practical business plans, budgets, operating targets, timelines, and performance measures, and make adjustments when operational or market conditions change.
- Direct business strategy, financial analysis, forecasting, annual budgeting, and performance reporting, and present findings, risks, and recommendations to the Director and Board of Directors.
- Authorize the establishment, reorganization, or expansion of departments and senior supervisory positions, and define reporting relationships, decision-making authority, and accountability across the organization.
- Allocate material, human, and financial resources to implement organizational policies and programs; approve major procurement, capital investment, staffing, and personnel plans; and establish appropriate financial and administrative controls.
- Coordinate the work of the administration, farm and livestock, food-processing, and retail departments to ensure efficient communication, consistent operating standards, effective inventory flow, and a high-quality customer and visitor experience.
- Lead growth and market-development initiatives for fresh agricultural products, livestock products, private-label foods, the country store, seasonal kiosks, and potential relationships with grocery stores, restaurants, farmers’ markets, distributors, and community partners.
- Establish and monitor company-wide controls for product quality, food-processing standards, farm and animal biosecurity, workplace safety, inventory management, customer service, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal procedures.
- Review key performance indicators for production, sales, inventory, labour utilization, operating costs, product quality, customer satisfaction, and visitor experience, and direct corrective action where required.
- Select, appoint, and supervise middle managers and senior staff; approve management recruitment, training, performance evaluation, succession planning, and other personnel policies.
- Represent the company, or delegate representatives to act on its behalf, in negotiations and official functions with suppliers, distributors, business partners, professional service providers, financial institutions, government bodies, and community organizations.
- Report regularly to the Director and Board of Directors on operational performance, financial results, strategic initiatives, risks, and recommended actions.
Employment requirements
- A university degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce, economics, agricultural business, hospitality or tourism management, or another relevant field is required.
- A master’s degree in a relevant field is an asset.
- At least five years of senior management experience is required, including responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, operational controls, and the supervision of managers or department heads.
- Experience in agriculture, food processing, retail, tourism, consumer products, or multi-location operations is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, financial management, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills are required.
- Strong time-management skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively are required.
