The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams – the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety – and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The NAC is located in the National Capital Region on the unceded territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation.

Key activities:
The Donor Engagement Specialist helps donors and sponsors feel informed, valued, and connected to the work of the NAC Foundation.
Working closely with colleagues across the NAC and the Foundation, the Specialist supports day‑to‑day stewardship activities, including donor and sponsor recognition, communications, and event support. The focus is on creating seamless and inclusive experiences.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys managing details and seeing projects through. The Specialist coordinates timelines, tracks commitments, and works across teams to ensure deliverables are carried out accurately and on schedule.
The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities. They bring strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a service-oriented approach to building lasting relationships with donors and sponsors.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Stewardship planning & execution
· Contribute to overall stewardship program planning, working closely with leadership
· Execute on annual and multi‑year stewardship plans, agreements, and timelines
· Identify gaps and risks in stewardship processes and recommend improvements
Donor and Sponsor recognition and fulfilment
· Manage donor and sponsor recognition across physical, digital, events, and co‑marketing channels
· Ensure compliance with gift and sponsorship agreements
· Coordinate approvals and installations with Marketing and Programs teams
· Support with stewardship recognition for the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards (GGPAA), coordinating with other NAC teams
Stewardship event support
· Coordinate corporate sponsor activations with the Philanthropy team
· Support stewardship events, including logistics, guest lists and invitations
· Coordinate post-event follow-up, documentation and evaluation
· Coordinate season tickets for donors across Foundation teams
Stewardship communications
· Coordinate impact reports, from planning through delivery, in collaboration with stewardship leadership
· Support creation of other stewardship content, including proposal and report templates
· Curate and maintain a photo library for stewardship and Foundation needs
· Identify future donor recognition opportunities with attention to design and digital needs
· Track donor preferences and engagement metrics to help inform strategy
Reporting and administration
· Coordinate pledge follow-up, reminders, and thank-you communications
· Track pledge collection progress with the Manager of Donor Relations
· Maintain accurate records in Raiser’s Edge and assist in reporting for senior leadership
Required qualifications:
· Degree in development, communications, marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
· 5+ years' experience in donor relations, stewardship, not-for-profit, development operations, or similar roles
· Exceptional collaborator with proven cross-team experience
· Excellent judgement and discretion around donor engagement activities
· Proven track record with managing high volumes of work and meeting tight deadlines
· Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
· Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
· Commitment to inclusive, respectful workplaces and values-aligned donor experiences
· Proficiency in Microsoft tools and design platforms such as Canva
· Proven experience using CRM and project management tools (e.g. Blackbaud and Asana)
Assets
· Fluently bilingual in both official languages
· Experience with design, videography, or digital content development
· A passion for the performing arts in Canada and connection to the NAC mission
