Description
AC Lobster Live is a Nova Scotia-based seafood processing, live lobster holding and export company serving domestic and international markets. As part of the company's continued growth and recent government-supported expansion initiatives, AC Lobster Live is investing in facility modernization, renewable energy applications, environmental compliance programs, operational sustainability, and infrastructure improvements.
The company is implementing projects to enhance environmental performance, improve energy efficiency, support government environmental inspections, and strengthen regulatory compliance across its operations. To support these initiatives, AC Lobster Live is seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Coordinator to coordinate environmental compliance activities, sustainability projects, project implementation and regulatory reporting.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
● Coordinate environmental compliance programs to ensure compliance with applicable federal, provincial and municipal environmental legislation.
● Coordinate environmental improvement and sustainability projects, including renewable energy implementation, energy efficiency upgrades, and environmental monitoring initiatives.
● Assist in planning, scheduling and monitoring government-funded environmental projects to ensure milestones and reporting requirements are achieved.
● Liaise with contractors, consultants, engineers and government agencies throughout project implementation.
● Prepare environmental reports, grant progress reports and regulatory documentation.
● Coordinate environmental permits, approvals and compliance submissions.
● Support government environmental inspections and facility audits, ensuring timely responses to regulatory requirements.
● Conduct environmental monitoring, inspections and compliance assessments.
● Develop and maintain environmental management procedures and documentation.
● Assist with implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
● Coordinate waste management, recycling and pollution prevention programs.
● Monitor project budgets, timelines and deliverables and provide progress updates to management.
● Identify environmental risks and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
● Deliver environmental awareness and compliance training to operational staff.
● Maintain accurate environmental records and project documentation.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
● Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
● Minimum two years of experience in environmental compliance, environmental consulting, sustainability, project coordination or related fields.
● Experience coordinating environmental or infrastructure projects involving multiple stakeholders.
● Working knowledge of Canadian environmental legislation and regulatory compliance.
● Experience preparing technical reports, environmental documentation and project reports.
● Experience communicating with government agencies, regulatory authorities or external stakeholders.
● Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
● Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
● Environmental compliance within food processing, manufacturing, industrial or resource sectors.
● Government-funded capital improvement or sustainability projects.
● Renewable energy systems or energy efficiency projects.
● Environmental permitting and regulatory reporting.
● GIS, environmental monitoring software or data analysis tools.
● Waste management and recycling operations.
● Project management methodologies or project coordination experience.
