Acupuncture Assistant

We are looking for a patient, dedicated acupuncture assistant to join our team and assist with the physical and clerical tasks in our clinic. The responsibilities of the acupuncture assistant include maintaining the treatment area, prepping for therapy sessions, helping to transport immobile patients, and performing administrative duties.

A successful acupuncture assistant is physically fit, detail-oriented, and a great team player. Ultimately, a top-notch acupuncture assistant will have great interpersonal and communication skills and should demonstrate the mental fortitude to work with patients and complete clerical tasks.

Acupuncture Assistant Responsibilities:

• Review patient intake forms for completeness. Assist patients in completing missing information and clearly communicate the benefits and potential risks of the treatment before obtaining their signed informed consent.
• Assisting therapists with preparing patients for treatments.
• Help patients onto treatment tables, adjust them for procedures, and turning on and off or adjusting the TDP lamp as per the patient’s comfort.
• Preparing supplies and equipment and setting up treatment rooms for therapy sessions.
• Assist the acupuncturist during treatments by handing over instruments and fetching herbal formulas and be present at all times during pelvic floor treatment to assist the therapist.
• Cleaning equipment and treatment rooms before and after therapy sessions.
• Wash, sanitize, and sterilize all cupping, guasha and clinical tools and disposal of sharp waste according to strict safety standards and handle 5 to 6 loads of laundry each day.
• Maintaining equipment and notifying the therapist if there are any problems.
• Performing routine, non-clinical patient care tasks.
• Maintaining inventory supplies, ordering stock, and keeping stock areas clean and organized.
• Completing paperwork and updating patient files.
• Process claims such as health insurance or workers compensation.
• Answering phones, setting up appointments, and responding to patient queries.
• Communicate post-care instructions to patients according to the practitioner’s recommendation.
• Manning the reception desk to greet patients, schedule treatments, and coordinate the therapists and treatment room schedules.

Acupuncture Assistant Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 to 2 years of recent experience working in a supportive role in a healthcare, wellness or acupuncture (preferred) clinic environment is required.
• Proficiency with the Jane App practice management system is required. 
• Knowledge in TCM and foundational acupuncture principles, meridians and diseases, safety protocols is a must.
• Certificate in Foundation of Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, or a closely related field, is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Data entry and computer skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Good bedside manners.
• Good physical strength and stamina for lifting and moving patients.
