Job requirements

Education

High School Completion is required.

Experience

  • 3-4 years of experience as horticulture supervisor or technician is required.
  • Must have a Valid BC Driver’s License
  • Experience of driving a truck and Trailer combo would be an asset.

Specific Skills

  •  Inspect plants for health, addressing any issues like pests or diseases.
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of workers who maintain lawns, gardens, daily     softscape installation, ensuring proper techniques and safety.
  • Provide daily updates to the project manager and coordinate with suppliers.
  • Work with designers and suppliers to select, order and approve plants, ensuring quality and availability.
  • Conduct checks on softscape elements and address any issues.
  • Participate in project meetings and align softscape activities with the overall schedule.
  • Resolve work-related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports
  • Submit reports on softscape progress and health assessments. Complete deficiency reports for properties on an as needed basis.
  • Review expenditures and provide cost estimates for upcoming activities.
  • Conduct training on best practices for plant installation and maintenance.
  • Develop and execute a detailed plan for planting, ensuring alignment with project timelines and adherence to architectural and design plans.
  • Provide and monitor accurate cost estimates for all softscape activities.
  • Communicating with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide recommendations for maintaining their landscapes.
  • Hire staff and train workers in job duties and company policies
  • Keeping records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered on jobsites.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries while working.
